We sat down with Mike Sullivan, Manager and System Engineer at Bellingham based Tech Help to discuss why they ditched their nationally owned internet service provider for locally owned PogoZone.

Why were you in the market for a new internet service provider?
There were a few factors involved in making the decision. First and foremost, we provide managed IT services to companies in Whatcom and Skagit Counties — internet speeds are of utmost importance to us. Often we help clients remotely — we simply can’t do that with slow internet.

Secondly, support is big to us. Not only are we contacting support for ourselves, but on behalf of our clients as well. We needed a support team that was attentive and knowledgeable. We’ve had nothing but great experiences with the support staff at PogoZone and many of our staff know them on a personal level. Support, if you can call it that, from that national company was a nightmare.

Lastly, it’s important to us to use local resources when we can. PogoZone is locally owned and operated — something that is hugely important to us.

So switching to a local ISP was intentional. What do you think some of the benefits are?
There’s a lot, really. They know our community and understand the unique internet needs of businesses in Whatcom and Skagit Counties. They provide local jobs. They feel accessible — you can go directly to them if you need immediate support.

Do any of your customers use PogoZone?
Many do. Mostly for internet and VoIP services. We feel very confident in recommending PogoZone’s services as an alternative to other companies. Other companies are behemoths — you don’t get the support you need in a timely manner, their service agreements are terrible, the cost is astronomical, and internet speeds are always less than promised.

Anything else we should know?
We love the variety of services that PogoZone offers — for companies and residents. Certain national companies only offer coax or fiber internet. PogoZone is a great company to work with and be a customer of both in terms of support and pricing.
